We dream of things that ought to be and ask why not.

// UW Farm Market//

is awesome. You should go next week!

// My top 5 favourite places on campus//

5. Chemistry 2, 3rd floor -

The smell on that floor gets me every single time. It smells like science, frustration and tears. It’s the organic floor! I love organic chem. A lot of people hate it but it’s been the only type of chemistry I’ve really understood. I don’t know if you knew this, but water seriously complicates things.

4. The indoor passage way that takes you from Biology 2 to CPH.

But which passage way?! There’s two!! Didn’t think it was possible? Oh it is, it just takes you a good 15 minutes to do it. It’s an excellent trick to have up your sleeve come the winter or the rain. You could just walk outside and you’d be there in maybe 5 minutes not even. It takes even longer if you go the EIT-DC route and in through Engineering. The other, quicker way is Physics to RCH and through E2.

3. Engineering 3, 1st floor Mech Eng hallway

Another place that smells perfect to me. After you walk up the stairs from E2 to E3 and down that hallway passed the 4th year Mech Eng room. Oh my, it just smells so good. Like oil and other auto parts. It smells like solar car! It brings back lots of good memories - scampering through tunnels, being on campus all night and never leaving, exploring places I really shouldn’t have been exploring, blah blah blah.

2. EIT roof top garden space // EV3 green roof patio

While it’s stock has decreased since the Quantum Nano building has gone up, I still believe it’s one of the best places for a date on campus. It’s also one of the best spots to look at stars (the primary spot being the CIF green). It’s so ignored you rarely run into people up there. In the summer time it’s the perfect place to go and sit and have a cup of tea and a cookie or just collect yourself after a stressful day.

The green roof in EV3 isn’t open to public access yet but I’ve been up there 3 times already and each time I fall in love with it more and more. It’s a beautiful environment and the view you get from that building is far better than most. It’s an excellent meeting space and while it may not be accessible 24/7 (once the building actually opens…), it’ll be a great spot to just sit and relax.

1. Science corridor underground tunnels B2-PHYS

Now, I’ve been down there twice (both times were for work) and I took full advantage of that. It’s the coolest, scariest and creepiest place on campus. Those tunnels were never public access (they’re just maintenance tunnels so don’t believe anything you hear about homeless people living down there waiting to rape people…) but I wish they were. The noises you hear, the lack of light, the random ladders that lead no where make me wonder where everything goes. I’m a curious person, far too curious for my own good and I’m prone to exploring and climbing things I should explore or climb.

One day it’s going to get me into trouble but for the time being I’ll keep exploring.

Let’s get the week started.
